Unscheduled Port Day and Repairs. Cadiz, Spain.

Somewhere below the feet of the two crew members there is a leak
in the ballast tank.  Welders are down the hole and these
two chaps are standing by to give them a hand.
Unfortunately the hole in the ballast tank was not fixed by morning, despite engineers working hard through the night.  Needless to say, the Prinsendam remained in port as work continued, instead of being in Casablanca today.

The chief engineer's wife and the environmental officer's wife and I headed out into Cadiz for a bit of a wander around town and by the time we got back there was news that the leaky vessel had been fixed and we were setting sail.

The itinerary has been changed, as a result.  Gibraltar has been added as a port but we are leaving out Lanzarote.  As it turns out, quite a few guests have been pleased because they have never been to Gibraltar before and it has been on their bucket list.

The ladies in the Shore Excursions Department have been hectically organising tours at short notice for Gibraltar, re-scheduling tours for Casablanca and Tenerife, and cancelling those for Lanzarote.  It is not an easy task and although I did offer to help them, they declined.  (Probably the last thing they need is a 'novice' to screw things up! 😉)
