Fremantle, Australia. Shipwreck Galleries.

Our second day (or part of the day) in Fremantle went without a hitch.  Paul had to go into town for a few things and there was still enough time left over before having to get back to the ship so we headed over to the Western Australia Museum Shipwreck Galleries.

The museum has some relics from ships wrecked along western Australia's treacherous coastline, including the original timbers from the Batavia which was wrecked on Morning Reef and sank in 1629.  The story of what happened is interesting - mutiny and treachery.  You can read further about it on this website:  http://museum.wa.gov.au/research/collections/batavia/maritime-shipwrecks/batavia
Part of Batavia's hull, retrieved and preserved.
We had a nice wander around before walking slowly back to the ship, enjoying the lovely sunshine.

The Maasdam set sail just after lunch and I caught up on some much needed zzzzz in the afternoon.

Tomorrow we arrive in Albany.
