Sea days, Rembrant and cooking.

Trying to get into position for re-creation of Rembrant's 'De Nachtwacht'
Over the last two days at sea some guests have been relaxing, winding down after their cruise and reflecting on their past adventures.  The newer ones have been getting familiarised with the ship, where everything is.  Now and then we still see a 'lost' guest who hasn't quite figured out how to get back to their cabins or where the dining room is.

Copy of 'De Nachtwacht' from the internet
Yesterday staff members re-created a modern version of a 1642 painting by Rembrandt van Rijn, "The Night Watch" (De Nachtwacht), on the stage in the showroom.  It was quite interesting seeing staff bringing 'props' onto the stage and trying to more or less portray those in the painting.  They finally got things more or less sorted with the help of pictures and another staff member's guidance.

Earlier today Christina (from the shops) Barry (piano bar entertainer) and I went to see a cooking demonstration from 'America's Test Kitchen'.  There was a good turnout of guests for the event.  Chocolate brownies and a chocolate pudding were made, yum.  It was all good fun and throughout the demonstration footage of the cooking, and closeups, where shown on big screens on either side of the stage.  Unfortunately we didn't get to sample the results - the 'end result' demonstration batch was a day old which couldn't be handed out for fear of making guests ill.  And the freshly made batches were still in the oven and fridge, cooking/setting.

A bit later on Christina brought the bulk of her luggage up to our cabin for safekeeping.  She is being moved to another cabin tomorrow and wanted to clear out her cabin as much as possible.  She will  move to her new cabin sometime tomorrow afternoon after it has been serviced by the housekeeping staff.

Life goes on!  Tomorrow we arrive in Sydney.

The final result
