Naturist Walk - Day 6

The one-carriage train arriving at Bahnhof Sizendorf
Today's walk started off at a train station - Bahnhof Sitzendorf, about a 20 minute drive from Cursdorf.

We had a few minutes wait for a train where we took a single carriage train a few stations down and met up with some other walkers.  We then disrobed and walked on paths parallel to the railway line, through the forest, the track slowly making its way upwards but not too steep a gradient.

Our funicular carriage.  Waiting now for it to start and to take us up the hill!
Halfway into the walk there was a fairly steep climb up the mountain beside a funicular so Paul and I opted to cheat and took the funicular up to the top along with a few other walkers.  The other part of the group were half way up the hill when we passed them in our funicular carriage, waving to them and encouraging them with their hot, stiff walk.  We met up with them later at a pre-arranged place just on the outskirts of the village, having arrived at the nice grassy patch sooner than them.  Unfortunately a chap from the other group was missing.  Being one of the faster walkers he and his dog had walked waaaay to fast and missed the turn-off track which would have led him to where our group was waiting.  He had walked right to the top funicular station and probably wondered where the rest of the group was.  A telephone call soon put things to right and he eventually appeared with his dog, not too worse for wear.

Rest break at a walking hut
We continued our walk back but with only 4km to go, the path seemed to end, going through brambles and bush.  The walk leader wanted to go to the nearest train station and catch a train back to the cars.  Paul, having a gps navigator, advised that there was another path back to the cars.  In the end the walking group split in 2, some opting to walk back to the train station while others opted to follow the route Paul had on his navigator.  Just before the end of the walk as we arrived down in the village, the path disappeared with only a steep river bank in sight.  It was our last hurdle before arriving at where we had parked the cars.   Determined not to give up one of the walkers managed to use branches of bushes to climb down the river bank and cross the shallow river on foot.  I followed next and then Paul who just about fell when the branch almost gave way.   The other chaps in the group felt it was too risky to climb down and decided to look for a path.  On the other side of the river we were going to direct them if we could - only to discover that there WAS a path and a bridge crossing the river.  How we had missed it we don't know.  After a bit of shouting to the chaps on the other side of the river, we directed them where to go and they found the path and bridge. We arrived back at the cars before the other group and waited a bit.  They didn't arrive and so eventually we decided not to wait any further and headed back to Talmühle.

It turned out that those who waited to catch the train - had quite a long wait.  We were back by 6pm, the others back at 7:30pm.  And there was a bbq organised as well.  Oh dear...

The food was delicious but we were tired so we excused ourselves and made a retreat to the comfort of our room.
