Germany Wandering

Landgasthof Zehner
You would think that by staying at a lovely guesthouse/BnB in a hamlet we would be able to sleep in.  Ha!  Someone was an early bird and started working on the street at 7am with what sounded like a chainsaw.  Then a cleaner came into the room at 8am.  She had knocked but we weren't sure if she was knocking on next door's door but Paul responded just in case.  The key turned in our locked door (there was no dreadlock) and in the cleaner waltzed, only to screech to a halt in her happy tracks: two guests were still semi-conscious in bed.  She made her apologies and fled!  With that we decided that we would have to put our legs into first gear and get going for the day.

We took a nice leisurely drive, not really having any real direction in mind but simply looked at the road map and plotted our route according to green-marked roads.

We headed towards the region of Bayern, enjoying the scenery as much as we could - it was raining all the time with the occasional lull.  At some stage we may repeat the journey when there is no rain so that we can see the areas properly.  We passed through a lovely village beside river and saw a ruined castle on hill.  The rain had stopped but I was a bit reluctant to go walking in case it started to rain again (I hate walking in the rain - sad!!)  No sooner had we started searching for a path - the rain started again so that was the end of our visit to the castle.

As I said earlier, we took a leisurely drive and what appears to be a 2½ hour journey actually took almost the whole day because of going via small green roads that showed in our map book, and not going as per the routes suggested by googlemaps).

Landhotel Bayerwald
We have ended up at a lovely BnB, Landhotel Bayerwald, at the top of a hill near a forest. The building is a beautiful traditional building, cosy, lots of wood.  The owners are friendly too.

We saw this lovely log home - ideas for the design of our future house perhaps!
