Our noisy neighbours have gone now but unfortunately we still have to deal with a couple in 2 tents down, diagonally opposite us, staring. We reckon that they are bored and have nothing to do all day, not even reading a book. It's their day's 'entertainment' to watch the comings and goings of those in the campsite. I shouldn't really complain because I'm sure they are very nice and sometimes nosy neighbours are good because invariably they will also be alerted to anything unusual going on which may be invaluable if there is a theft.
Unfortunately the grip handle to hold the camping cooking pots hadn't been packed or got lost so Paul has been using socks to hold the pots when cooking or pouring. It has done the job to keep hands from getting burnt but has not been ideal because of lack of proper grip. We ended up visiting a camping shop and finally found one.
Today is another temperature scorcher with highs of around 35°C or more. In an attempt to get away from our very hot tent, after getting a pot handle, we decided to 'head for the hills' with a tricycle go-karting session in mind. We headed on relatively small roads to Rohrmoos via two scenic mountain passes, the Turracherhöhe Pass and the Öbertäueren Pass. To get to the go-karting venue we had to go up the mountain via a cable-way, get fitted out with helmets and after a few instructions were let loose to take the 7km trip back down to the cable-way's base station. It took abut 25 minutes, start to finish, to get down with a stop or two on the way to take photographs. The track was a a dirt/gravel track - no doubt quite muddy when it rains. Today the track was dry = clouds of dust! We almost flew down the track but common sense made us brake to a less scary speed now and then. It was great fun!
We headed back to the campsite via the Katschberg Pass, avoiding the toll motorway however at times the old road followed the toll road; sometimes it was above us (a very long bridge on massive concrete stilts). On the other side of the pass we found an avid cyclist walking his bike up. He looked quite 'pissed off' to say the least - very hot and bothered, and having to deal with a very steep incline up. We wanted to shout as we went past that he was near the top - just to cheer him up - but didn't. 😶
It was still hot when we arrived back at the campsite so we took a dip in the lake.
