Honfleur |
We arrived at around midday and soon guests were off on tours or exploring the town. I started on my holiday blog but didn't get very far...
We had an overnight stay in Rouen and, having put my name down as a ship's tour escort, I ended up going on a tour to Honfleur.
After a lovely countryside drive we arrived at the old port of Honfleur, not far from Le Havre. It is a beautiful old town and it was only a bit later, during our walk, I realised that Paul and I had been there before - briefly on our way to catch a ferry in Le Havre a year or two ago.
We walked along cobbled streets, past old salt warehouses and on to St Catherine's Church. Later on we had a bit of time to explore the town on our own before heading back to the ship.
Shortly after I arrived back at the ship Paul was able to get off work for a bit and we headed into Rouen to look for a supermarket to pick up a few things before departure time.
The Prinsendam left on time but minus a staff member two guests. They were late and the ship couldn't wait. It is a different matter if people are on a tour organised by the ship - the ship has a duty of care to wait for them to get back, even if the organised tour runs late. So... the staff member and guests will have to make their own way to La Rochelle which is the next stop for the Prinsendam. They will have to foot a hotel bill as well, no doubt, some where along the way. Oh well....
