Port Vila, Efate, Vanatu. Excursion: Jungle Zipline.

The Maasdam docked in the tiny port of Port Vila on the island of Efate.  It has been an overcast but muggy day yet it didn't deter guests from stepping foot on land.  There was a small band playing for us on the pier and the music continued throughout the day.  There was also a colourful market on the pier, the locals selling all sorts of things.

I had a nice morning out on a 'Jungle Zipline' tour.  A minibus picked my assigned group of 6 from the pier and whisked us along the coastline and had a brief change over to a 4 x 4 vehicle that took us along a dirt road and up steep tracks into the mountain.  After had a briefing and strapped into harnesses, we were off and away through the tall tropical forest trees.  The views were gorgeous and we didn't want the tour to end!  Reality hit when we got back to the ship.

After lunch Paul and I took a brief walk around the market on the pier.  The locals were friendly and allowed guests to browse virtually uninterrupted.  Under the shelter of an awning a group of children were singing beautifully in harmony.

This evening Paul and I met up for dinner with the staff from the ship's infirmary in the ship's Pinnacle Grill.  Nice food, good company and a full stomach afterwards.  TAXI!!!

Our next destination:  Tadine, Mare, New Caledonia
