Needless to say we took a drive to Schmalkalden's old town. The town wasn't as busy as we expected it to be - probably because of the heavy-looking clouds. The town with its cobbled streets was quaint, with a wonderful feel of the past eras. The church was beautiful inside and someone was playing the organ so we sat down to listen to music. It made for a wonderful atmosphere.

Back in the village we decided to visit the tin figure museum. Zinnfiguren Museum was full of tin figures taking one through a walk in history in miniature, from bible times up to today's modern times. It was very good and some of the pieces had humour - like people in a bathtub! The owner of the museum popped his head around the door and asked us to close the museum door when we had finished - we were the only ones visiting it at the time and there was no doubt that the poor chap wanted to get home. There was a wonderful feeling of trust - but then again everything was behind glass cases.
We got back to Cursdorf only to find out that the walkers didn't get rained out where they were walking. So we should have perhaps gone to the start point to see... Oh well....
